WHEN: August 20 – 23, 2015

EVENT OVERVIEW:

The 20th Asia-Australasia Conference of Radiological Technologists (AACRT) has once again assembled an esteemed pool of industry experts to discuss the emerging technologies and advances in Radiography as well as the accompanying challenges. Event Organisers from the Singapore Society of Radiographers (SSR) was keen on a one-stop portal that could contain every necessary piece of event information easily accessible by delegates. QuickMobile’s Mobile Event App proved to be the above, and achieved both their requests to facilitate the event and provide excellent end-to-end support throughout the implementation process.

EXECUTION:

The QuickMobile Team received SSR’s query on a Mobile Event App solution some time at the end of July 2015. With the 20th AACRT less than a month away, SSR was on a tight timeline to find the most suitable and pocket-friendly mobile app solution.

SSR desired for an app that could provide information such as venue, write-ups of track sessions, speaker profiles and instructions, exhibitors’ information, special workshops and push notifications to make ad-hoc announcements to conference delegates. In particular, the mobile event application had to be powerful enough to deliver both online and offline content while maintaining the consistency of a rich user interface that was intuitive and suited for all mobile device operations.

Within 24 hours of SSR’s initial query, the QuickMobile team responded and a meeting was set for the next day. From the get-go, the QuickMobile Team immersed itself in fully understanding SSR’s goals of a mobile event solution, making only relevant recommendations and configurations to SSR’s mobile event app.

The eventual AACRT app was well-received by conference attendees. It was used actively and gave SSR a whole new dimension of event data analytics useful in planning their next event.

CHALLENGES & TRIUMPHS:

Having made a query only less than a month before the actual event, SSR held valid concerns of the ability to launch an event app in time.

As a matured and star-player in the field of Mobile Event Apps, QuickMobile had all the resources, tools and knowledge to ensure a quick and positive roll out of the AACRT event app despite this short timeline. All that was needed, was some light skinning of the app and content building. Also, since the app was already hosted on Amazon Cloud Hosting, there was no need to fuss over hosting services.

As with any organiser, SSR was also slightly daunted with the cumbersome and time-consuming backend content management work involved, especially with the event date nearing. Their fears were unfounded thanks to the easy-to-use backend system. Quoting SSR’s Vice-President, Chong Chun Meng, “Self-adjustment of the content was easy with the powerful content management system (CMS). The CMS was mostly ‘what you see is what you get’, no coding was necessary and adjusting content was as simple as using a word processing app.”

Having a local team in Singapore also enabled SSR’s discussions with QuickMobile to be more effective, and on-site support was easily facilitated.

QuickMobile, with its fun and inviting nature, never just delivers what is expected. Instead, QuickMobile’s event apps goes the extra mile to ensure every event unforgettable to all participants.

In AACRT’s case, the well-received “Gamification” module was employed to create a fun atmosphere – a positive deviation from a typically serious event. Delegates were tasked with a series of activities such as uploading event photos, sending messages, taking surveys and submitting feedback – all in-app – that would earn points, which eventually amounted to a prize for the winner.

EVENT OUTCOME:

According to Chong, he saw a high level of delegate engagement thanks to the AACRT event app. Feedback received from attendees were positive and many commended the in-app interactive map that helped attendees navigate the large convention centre.

Chong also confirmed that using a mobile event app for this run of AACRT has altered the profile of the conference in significant ways whereby it is now associated with being “forward-looking, high-tech and futuristic”. Furthermore, with a mobile event app, SSR has managed to save significant capital on printing traditional conference proceedings and obtain unique event data analytics to better tailor their next event.

Yet, above all, it is the characteristic QuickMobile solution that is the icing on the cake for SSR, who highly values QuickMobile’s client services and support team that provided quick and accurate solutions from pre- to post-event.

As the Vice-President of SSR himself puts, “Go with QuickMobile, it will be difficult for you to find a reason not to.”
